In a statement, the couple said that the end of the relationship happened in late 2017, two and a half years after marriage.
Actors Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux separated after two-and-a-half years of marriage and seven years of marriage, according to a statement released on Thursday.
In the text, the artists explain that the decision, taken at the end of last year, was friendly and mutually agreeable.
“Normally, we would do this privately, but since the intrigue industry can not withstand any opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to announce the truth directly,” they explained through Aniston’s representative Stephen Huvane.
According to the statement, Aniston and Theroux remain “two good friends who have decided to separate as a couple”, but who wish to maintain the “dear friendship”.
Aniston turned 49 on 11 and hosted a party for the occasion, where she was surrounded by friends Courteney Cox, Andrea Bendewald, Leigh Kilton-Smith and Kristin Hahn, but Theroux was not present.
The celebrity magazine “People” recently reported how the couple managed to keep up despite busy schedules.
“Justin is often in New York alone, and when he’s there, Jennifer likes to see his friends and enjoy life,” said a source close to the couple, “when they’re side by side in Los Angeles.
Aniston and Theroux met in Hawaii during the recording of “Tropical Thunder” in 2008 and began dating three years later. The marriage was celebrated in 2015, shortly before Theroux turned 44.
The actress was once married to Brad Pitt between 2000 and 2005 after starting the relationship in 1998. After the divorce, Aniston related to Vince Vaughn and John Mayer.
For Theroux, this was the first marriage after having had a relationship with stylist Heidi Bivens for 14 years. The couple split in 2011.
